Information message about a series of earthquakes in the south of Iran on November 27, 2005, which caused destruction and human victims.

Destructive earthquake with magnitude М=5.9 has taken place on November 27, 2005 in the south of Iran at 13:22 Moscow time (10:22 GMT).
Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 25 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).
Preliminary processing has been done with data from 25 stations, accurate processing - with data 33 stations.
Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations: Garni (16.2 degrees), Kislovodsk (20.2 degrees), Ala-Archa (21.9 degrees), Borovoe (28.3 degrees), Kurchatov (29.5 degrees), Arti (29.7 degrees). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations: Obninsk (31 degrees), Vasula (38 degrees), Hailar (53 degrees), Yakutsk (59 degrees), Tiksi (59.5 degrees), Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (69 degrees).

    Macroseismic manifestations
From ITAR TASS data this earthquake killed 13 people, nearly one hundred are injured. The shabby residential buildings are mainly destroyed on Qesm Island. This earthquake also has been felt in the north of UAE.
Focal mechanism and seismic moment of the earthquake
Focal mechanism solutions obtained from NEIC (USA) and Harvard Center (USA) data are presented on fig. 4 - 5 in stereographical projection (low hemisphere, waves of compression are in dark color) and in table 2. These solutions are identical. The earthquake 27.11.2005 has happened under the action of compression oriented in along meridian direction . Both nodal planes have north-east-south-west traveling direction. The type of motion along both planes - thrust. The value of seismic moment Мо in accordance with NEIC makes 7.3* 10** 17 n*m, the value of moment magnitude - Mw = 5.9. The value of seismic moment Мо in accordance with Harvard makes 1.1* 10** 18 n*m, the value of moment magnitude - Mw = 6.0.
