Information message about the tangible earthquake in the western part of Sakhalin Island on August 14, 2016

The tangible earthquake M=5.6 has occurred on August 14, 2016 at 11:15 GMT (14:15 Moscow time) in the western part of Sakhalin Island.
Parameters of the earthquake have been determined in the Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with station data obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia, countries of CIS and from abroad. Alert message on this earthquake has been delivered in 10 min after registration to the Ministry of Emergency of the Russian Federation (EMERCOM).
Preliminary processing has been done with data from 27 stations, accurate processing - with data 51 stations.
     Fig. 1 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk (∆ 3.5º), Kurilsk (∆ 6.4º), Yuzhno-Kurilsk (∆ 6.8º), Kuldur (∆ 7º), Severo-Kurilsk (∆ 8.8º). Fig. 2 presents fragments of records obtained from digital stations Bilibino (∆ 21.3º), Tiksi (∆ 22.2º), Norilsk (∆ 31.9º), Makanchi (∆ 38.9º), Arti (∆ 47.3º).

According to GS RAS the earthquake was felt in Aleksandrovsk-Sakhalinskiy with intensity 5 MSK, in Uglegorsk - 4 MSK, in Poronaisk, Tymovskoye - 3 MSK, in Nogliki 2-3 MSK. Information on individual responses is collected in the new section of the site, "You feel the earthquake? Tell us about it" (DyfitWeb).
    Historical records
The epicenter of this earthquake was located 220 km S-S-W of tangible earthquake of February 19, 2014 М=5.4 near the north-eastern coast of Sakhalin Island and 150 km S-S-W of tangible earthquake of June 30, 2014 М=5 in the north-eastern part of Sakhalin Island.
Focal mechanism and seismic moment of the earthquake
Focal mechanism solutions of the origin are presented in fig. 4,5, they were obtained in USGS NEIC with W-phase Moment Tensor (Mww) technique and in Quick CMT Catalog Center, USA with CMT technique. Elements of mechanism are given in table.2. These solutions obtained in different centers are close. The earthquake has occurred under prevailing action of compression stresses oriented S-W (AZ=243º-244º). Nodal plane NP1 is nearly vertical (DP=55º-62º), it strikes S-E (STK=144º-155º). NP2 plane is flat, it strikes N-W (STK=332º-345º). The type of motion – reverse fault for NP1 and thrust for NP2. According to USGS Mo=4.64 *10**17 N*m, Mw=5.7, according to CMT Catalog – Mo=5.7 *10**17 N*m, Mw=5.8.
