| On February the 21-st 1999 at 9:14 pm Moscow time (6:14 pm GMT) strong earthquake has happened in Dagestan, which was felt in places of Northern Caucasus with intensity up to 6 MSK. |
| Parameters of this earthquake (table 1) have been determined:
In Alert Service (AS) of Information Processing Center (IPC) of Geophysical Survey of RAS in Obninsk with the use of stationary data, obtained from digital and analog seismic stations of Russia and countries of CIS;
In Regional Seismic Center of Dagestan (RSCD) in Mahachkala by data of survey from local network;
In IPC GS RAS Obninsk by data of survey from regional network of Northern Caucasus (NCRN).

| This earthquake has been felt in the following places: in Dalime with intensity 6 MSK, in Kizilurt with intensity 5-6 MSK, in Novolaksk - 5 MSK, in Mahachkala -4.5-5 MSK, in Hasaviurt - 4 MSK, in Guni and Hunzahe - 3-4 MSK, in Piatigorsk - 3 MSK, in Serokale - 2-3 MSK. The material damage from this earthquake is now determined.
